Softball Recap: Sutter Triumphs

Sutter's tournament run continued when they took on Pioneer Valley on Saturday. The Huskies walked away with a 6-3 win over the Panthers.

Ryleigh Lemenager spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on seven hits.

At the plate, Malaina Wilder was excellent, going 1-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Liliana Speakman, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.

Sutter's victory bumped their record up to 11-6-1. As for Pioneer Valley, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-9-1.

Coming up, Sutter is taking a road trip to challenge Rio Linda at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Knights will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something the Huskies surely won't give up without a fight. As for Pioneer Valley, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Orcutt Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Spartans have averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season.
