Preview: New Hanover Wildcats vs. Hillside Hornets
The New Hanover Wildcats will head out on the road to face off against the Hillside Hornets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
After soaring to 42 points the game before, New Hanover were a bit more limited in their matchup on Friday. They were beaten by Hoggard 44-7. While losing is never fun, New Hanover can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 132nd, while Hoggard is ranked 12th).
Meanwhile, Hillside had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 39.3 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They secured a 41-35 W over Jordan. 41 seems to be a good number for Hillside as the team scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.
Hoggard's win bumped their season record to 9-1 while New Hanover's loss dropped theirs to 5-5.
Everything came up roses for New Hanover against Hillside when the teams last played back in November of 2015 as the squad secured a 52-15 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for New Hanover since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
