Volleyball Recap: Columbian Tornadoes vs. Perkins Pirates
Columbian posted their biggest win since September 5th on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Perkins Pirates as the Columbian Tornadoes made off with a 3-0 victory. The win was familiar territory for the Tornadoes who have now won four matchups in a row.
Columbian's not only won, but also showed off some consistency: keeping Perkins between 16 and 19 points across their sets. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 25-19, 25-16.
Columbian can attribute much of their success to Emma Daugherty, who had ten digs. Daugherty is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in the last five games she's played dating back to last season.
Columbian was lethal from the service line and finished the game with ten aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least seven aces in three consecutive contests.
Despite the defeat, Perkins had strong showings from Olivia Hartung, who had 12 digs, and Avery Maldonado, who had six digs.
Columbian's victory bumped their record up to 13-5. As for Perkins, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-14 record this season.
Columbian will square off against Bellevue at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Perkins, they will challenge Sandusky at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
