Cape Fear is a perfect 10-0 against Jack Britt since March of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Cape Fear Colts will welcome the Jack Britt Buccaneers at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Cape Fear's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 24-0 margin over Douglas Byrd. The win was just business as usual for the Colts, who after seven games remain undefeated this season.
McKinley Kolasa was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Amari Adams was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and five RBI. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. Allie Dawson was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI.
Cape Fear kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits every time they've taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, Jack Britt got the win against Seventy-First on Friday by a conclusive 17-2. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Buccaneers.
Like Cape Fear, Jack Britt also got a great game from a two-way player: Katelyn Villareal. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over four innings pitched. Villareal was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February of 2024.
In other batting news, Kailey Crenshaw and Lauren McGarry did most of the damage at the plate: Crenshaw went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI, while McGarry went a perfect 2-for-2 with two triples, three RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI McGarry has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Addison Stuart, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Cape Fear pushed their record up to 7-0 with the victory, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Jack Britt, their win bumped their record up to 5-3.
Tuesday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Cape Fear has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .607. However, it's not like Jack Britt struggles in that department as they've averaged .482. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
