Soccer Recap: St. John-Vianney Extends Winning Streak to Four

With a playoff win on the line, St. John-Vianney rose to the challenge on Monday. Everything went their way against the Union Catholic Vikings as they made off with a 5-1 victory. The final result isn't all that surprising considering St. John-Vianney's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey soccer rankings (they are ranked 141st, while Union Catholic are ranked 285th).

The win (which was St. John-Vianney's fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-4-4. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 18 goals over those four matchups. As for Union Catholic, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-8-1.

Looking ahead, St. John-Vianney will face off against St. Augustine Prep on Friday. St. Augustine Prep's last five matches have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. Union Catholic does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
