Baseball Recap: Jeannette Takes a Loss

Jeannette was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 5-4 to the Avella Eagles, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.

Jeannette saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Amari Thomas, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Thomas has become a key player for the Jayhawks: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 0-5 otherwise. Evyn Yargeau also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Jeannette's loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Avella, their win bumped their record up to 9-1.

While Jeannette had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
