Volleyball Recap: Cincinnati Christian Takes a Loss

Cincinnati Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Goshen Warriors. While the Cougars didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Warriors 25-21 in the first set.

Cincinnati Christian started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 21-25, 25-15, 25-18, 25-22.

When it comes to explaining why Cincinnati Christian lost, don't look at Lydia Vogelgesang. Despite the final result, she had ten digs and two assists. Vogelgesang is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last three games she's played. Maleah Nkansah also deserves some recognition as she had her first kill of the season.

Goshen got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kristi Hardiman out in front who had 23 assists and nine digs. Those 23 assists gave Hardiman a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Emma Ulrey, who had 16 digs.

Cincinnati Christian's loss dropped their record down to 9-7. As for Goshen, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season.

Cincinnati Christian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against Seven Hills on the 27th. As for Goshen, they have also already played their next matchup, a 3-1 victory against Wilmington on the 30th.
