Baseball Game Preview: Walsh Jesuit Warriors vs. Anthony Wayne Generals

The Walsh Jesuit Warriors will take on the Anthony Wayne Generals at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Walsh Jesuit 2.4, Anthony Wayne 2.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Walsh Jesuit is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Lakewood a 7-0 shutout. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Warriors.

At the plate, Carlos Smith was excellent, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and one double. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Colin Locigno also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Meanwhile, Anthony Wayne faced Loveland in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Generals had just enough and edged out the Tigers 4-3. The victory was familiar territory for the Generals, who have now won five contests in a row.

Walsh Jesuit's win bumped their record up to 17-7-1. As for Anthony Wayne, their victory bumped their record up to 23-4.

Walsh Jesuit was able to grind out a solid win over Anthony Wayne in their previous matchup back in April of 2022, winning 5-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warriors since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
