Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only West Point walked away with it. They blew past the Vicksburg Gators 42-19 on Friday. The Green Wave might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by 23 points or more this season.

West Point got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Quentin Thompson out in front who rushed for 136 yards on only nine carries. That's the most rushing yards Thompson has posted since back in September. The team also got some help courtesy of Kingston Branham, who rushed for 118 yards on only 15 carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: West Point was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 317 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

West Point pushed their record up to 11-0 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 6.7 points on average over those games. As for Vicksburg, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-6.

Coming up, West Point will face off against Pontotoc at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Vicksburg does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
