Preview: North Eugene Highlanders vs. Churchill Lancers

North Eugene has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Churchill Lancers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. North Eugene knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five contests -- so hopefully Churchill likes a good challenge.

North Eugene put the finishing touches on their seventh blowout victory of the season on Saturday. They put the hurt on Ashland with a sharp 72-49 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win North Eugene has posted against Ashland since February 21, 2020.

North Eugene got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was India Mohiuddin out in front who scored 12 points along with six steals and five rebounds. Mohiuddin hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Jonas Spencer, who scored nine points along with five assists and two steals.

Meanwhile, Churchill's recent rough patch got a bit rougher last Friday after their sixth straight loss. They took a 63-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of Eagle Point.

North Eugene pushed their record up to 14-2 with that victory, which was their 13th straight at home. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 21.77 points. As for Churchill, they have fallen quite a ways from their 23-5 record last season and are now at 3-10.

North Eugene came up short against Churchill in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, falling 90-82. Can North Eugene avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
