Softball Recap: Manchester Beats South Windsor for Their Fourth Straight Win

Manchester extended their winning streak to four on Monday, bumping their season record up to 4-0 in the process. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 13-11 victory over the South Windsor Bobcats. Surprisingly, this marked the Red Hawks' sixth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Chloe Fontaine '25 was incredible, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Fontaine '25 is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Riley Shove ?27, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

As for South Windsor, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss they have suffered since April 24, 2024.

On South Windsor's side, Sienna Michaelson was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Gemma Duhamel, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with two RBI and one run.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Manchester will head out to square off against East Catholic at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.67 runs per game on average), something the Red Hawks will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for South Windsor, they are taking a road trip to challenge Simsbury at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
