Baseball Recap: McAllen Takes a Loss

McAllen suffered their biggest defeat since May 18, 2024 on Saturday. They lost 17-4 to the La Joya Coyotes. The Bulldogs haven't had much luck with the Coyotes recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

McAllen saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Fernie Olivarez, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

McAllen's loss dropped their record down to 3-6-1. As for La Joya, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season.

McAllen and La Joya could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. McAllen (ranked 544th) will meet Sharyland (ranked 106th) at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, La Joya will face off against Los Fresnos at 6:30 p.m. on Monday down 209 places (215 vs. 6).
