Baseball Recap: Sierra Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Win

Sierra came tearing into Monday's match with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 10-6 win over the Sanger West Hornets. This was payback for the Chieftains, who suffered an 8-7 defeat the last time these two teams met.

The team relied heavily on Leo Oliver, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Zach Lloyd, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Oliver wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Sierra kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in May of 2024.

Sierra's record is now 7-2. As for Sanger West, their loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 0-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sierra will host Riverdale at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Sierra's pitchers better be ready for this one: Riverdale has averaged an impressive 6.9 runs per game this season. As for Sanger West, they will be playing at home against Madera at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Madera will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something Sanger West surely won't give up without a fight.
