Football Recap: Laguna Creek Piles Up the Points Against Sheldon + How To Watch

You're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter and that's exactly how it played out for Laguna Creek on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew the Sheldon Huskies out of the water with a 42-0 final score. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Cardinals' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 413th, while the Huskies are ranked 899th).

Laguna Creek was led to victory by Levi Ramos and Ryan Eddy. Ramos rushed for 35 yards and a pair of scores, while Eddy gained 79 total yards and a touchdown. Ramos also punched in two rushing touchdowns, which is notable because the Cardinals are undefeated when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 1-5 otherwise. Another big playmaker for Laguna Creek was Keian Smith, who returned a punt for a touchdown.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Laguna Creek's defense and their three sacks. Kaden Harris was especially locked on to Sheldon's QB and sacked him twice. Laguna Creek received some extra help from Josiyah Horton, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.

Special teams played a big role in the game for Laguna Creek, adding 12 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Smith, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.

Laguna Creek has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 4-5 record this season. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to yards per carry: they averaged an imposing 7.2 yards per carry in those games compared to only 2.1 in the others. As for Sheldon, their defeat was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-10.

Looking ahead, Laguna Creek will host Pleasant Grove at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Sheldon does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
