Baseball Recap: Mosley Find Success

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Mosley ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Arnold Marlins, sneaking past 8-7. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 5-0 on Tuesday.

Peyton Williams was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four). He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

In other pitching news, Carter Payne looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

Back at the plate, Mosley let Brayden Nelson and Xavier Demro run wild. Nelson went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one RBI, while Demro went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Those two hits gave Nelson a new career-high.

Mosley has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.6 runs over those games. As for Arnold, they dropped their record down to 7-10 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

Looking ahead, Mosley will be playing in front of their home fans against Crestview at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Arnold, they have already played their next matchup, a 2-1 victory against Hayden on the 30th.
