            Baseball Recap: Amherst Falcons vs. Shiocton Chiefs        
        
		
        
        
            Amherst won the last time they faced Shiocton and things went their way  on Monday too. The Falcons came out on top against the Chiefs by a score of  8-5. The game was the first time the Falcons have beaten the Chiefs on their field since May 31, 2023.

 The team  relied heavily on  Ethan Peskie, who  went a perfect 3-for-3 with three  RBI and one  run. Those  three  RBI gave  him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of  Sully Perkins, who  got on base  in three of his four plate appearances with three  runs and one  stolen base.
Amherst's victory was  their third straight on the road, which  pushed their record up to 14-6. Those  road  wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Shiocton, they have  been struggling recently as they've  lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record  this season.
 We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Amherst is set to  take on  their familiar foe Iola-Scandinavia  at 4:30  p.m.  on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Shiocton will  challenge  rival Manawa  at 4:30  p.m.  on Tuesday.
