Softball Recap: Marin Catholic Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

It's playoff time, and Marin Catholic had no trouble coming through when it counted. They walked away with a 7-4 victory over the Redwood Giants on Tuesday. That's two games straight that the Wildcats have won by exactly three runs.

Malliah Foster spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on four hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Morgan Carlson was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Bella Ferrety, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

The win (which was Marin Catholic's third in a row) raised their record to 16-6. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Redwood, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 15-10.

Marin Catholic has already played their next game, a 2-1 loss against San Marin on the 15th. As for Redwood, they will face off against Newark Memorial at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cougars will roll in looking for their 11th straight win, something the Giants surely won't give up without a fight.
