Antigo is 7-1 against Tomahawk since May of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Red Robins will venture away from home to face off against the Hatchets at 5:00 p.m.
Antigo managed to slip by Medford the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Red Robins lost 10-2 to the Raiders on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Red Robins have suffered against the Raiders since June 1, 2021.
Tristin Arlen made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. Those RBI marked the first that she has brought in this season. Another player making a difference was Breleigh Akright, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Tomahawk gave up the first runs on Tuesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Wittenberg-Birnamwood, sneaking past 8-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Hatchets have posted since May 13, 2024.
The team relied heavily on Averi Petta, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophie Olsen, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Tomahawk was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .457. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wittenberg-Birnamwood only posted a batting average of .308.
Antigo now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Tomahawk, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.
Antigo was able to grind out a solid win over Tomahawk when the teams last played back in May of 2024, winning 13-9. Will the Red Robins repeat their success, or do the Hatchets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
