Baseball Recap: Berkeley Springs Drops Highest Score of Season Against Grace Academy

Berkeley Springs had lost three games at home, but after bumping their record up to 4-26 on Saturday that streak is in the rearview. They skirted past the Grace Academy Knights 13-11. The Indians' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Jaxon McClintock was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Conner Maconaughey was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

As for Grace Academy, they now have a losing record of 6-7. Their loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

On Grace Academy's side, Lawson Aikens put in work while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, Aikens gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest he's had since back in May of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI.

Aikens wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Hudson Walls, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one run. Grace Academy is 2-1 when Walls posts three or more RBI, but 4-6 otherwise. Denton Bible also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Coming up, Berkeley Springs is taking a road trip to face off against Bridgeport at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Bridgeport will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Berkeley Springs surely won't give up without a fight. As for Grace Academy, they will host Heritage Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
