League recap: Shettlesworth breaks off league-leading run for Wyandotte

2A District 8 recap September 10, 2013

Wyandotte's Seth Shettlesworth rumbled for the longest rushing play in 2A District 8 this season in his game against Fairland last week. Shettlesworth scampered for 59 yards on the play and finished with 127 on the day as his team defeated the Owls.

Commerce was the team that made the biggest jump in the rankings, moving from seventh to fourth in the league. Earlier in the week, the Tigers triumphed over Mt. Vernon 7-6.

Ryan Garrett and Clayton Stone gave Wyandotte a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Garrett threw for 34 yards and 2 touchdowns, while Stone ran for 157 yards.

Garrett and Stone gave Brad Homer's team a balanced attack in passing and rushing last week.

Seth Roberts was the best wideout in the league this week as Commerce topped the Mountaineers. Roberts tallied 6 receptions for 117 yards.

Stone provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Bears topped Fairland.

Stone was the most successful running back in 2A District 8 this week.

Garrett put up the best numbers through the air as Wyandotte bested Austin Martin's team.

Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Steve Moss' team's Blake Jameson and Roberts have proven to be a lethal combination. 5-10 quarterback Jameson has thrown for 117 yards this season, while Roberts has 6 catches for 117 yards. Stone from the Bears leads the league in rushing with 157 yards.

Colcord moved up to 134 from 161 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Hornets climbed the ranks as a result of topping Haskell 19-0.
