Baseball Recap: Wausau West's Luck Changes for the Better on Tuesday

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Wausau East, Wausau West was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They walked away with a 6-2 victory over the Stevens Point Panthers. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Warriors as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Ty Teske made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out ten batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. He has become a key player for Wausau West: the team is 3-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 2-8 otherwise. Teske was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.

Teske wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Ryder Schindler, who went 3-for-4 with one run. Those three hits gave Schindler a new career-high. Cohen Bryant also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Wausau West's victory bumped their record up to 5-9. As for Stevens Point, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-7.

Wausau West will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Panthers: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
