Softball Recap: Edison Golden Bears vs. Brackenridge Eagles

Edison posted their closest win since April 2, 2024 on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Brackenridge Eagles, sneaking past 12-10. The victory continues a trend for the Golden Bears in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won nine in a row.

Chipper Mayorga made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jisele Hernandez, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.

Edison's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-5-1. As for Brackenridge, they dropped their record down to 0-5 with the defeat, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Edison will head out to take on Highlands at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Highlands will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something Edison surely won't give up without a fight. As for Brackenridge, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Burbank at 7:15 p.m. Burbank's pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so Brackenridge's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
