The Windsor Jaguars will square off against the James Logan Colts at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Windsor is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.2 runs per game this season.
Windsor is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against St. Helena, sneaking past 5-4.
Kalyse Lang spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Haley Homan, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double. Another player making a difference was Pearl McKay, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, James Logan waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They didn't even let the Eagles on the board, marking their second-straight 10-0 shutout. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Gabriella Garcia made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
In other batting news, James Logan let Ava Medellin and Janessa Parras run wild. Medellin went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Parras went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most hits Medellin has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Selena Gonzales, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
James Logan's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-6-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Windsor, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-6 record this season.
Friday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Windsor hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .363. However, it's not like James Logan struggles in that department as they've averaged .381. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
