Football Recap: Mira Mesa Comes Up Short

Mira Mesa played a tough contest on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 36-13 to the Grossmont Foothillers. The loss continues a trend for the Marauders in their meetings with the Foothillers: they've now lost three in a row.

Nico Giusti threw for 92 yards and one TD. Cza Brown was his top target, picking up 39 receiving yards. On the ground, Balam Garcia rushed for 45 yards.

AJ Hooker continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Grossmont, rushing for 189 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 9.0 yards per carry. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Holmes, who rushed for 57 yards and two scores.

Mira Mesa's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Grossmont, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mira Mesa will take on Rancho Buena Vista at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Grossmont, they will be playing at home against Valhalla at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Foothillers will be up against the Norsemen's rather soft defense (which has allowed 39.6 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
