Softball Game Preview: Sabine Cardinals vs. Arp Tigers

For the second straight game, Sabine will face off against Arp. A feisty cat fight will be fought as Sabine Cardinals challenge Arp Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Sabine has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with 12 straight defeats, while Arp will come in with five straight wins.

Sabine fell victim to Arp and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They lost 14-0 to the Tigers.

For Arp's part, Addison Carpenter made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. Furthermore, Carpenter didn't allow a single earned run, the first time she has blanked an opponent since back in February. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, Neci Potts was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three doubles, and two RBI. Those three doubles gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Hannah Martindale, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one double.

Arp kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in five consecutive contests.

Arp pushed their record up to 20-4 with the victory, which was their 13th straight on the road. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.2 runs over those games. As for Sabine, their loss dropped their record down to 0-9.
