High school football rankings: Gaffney finishes No. 1 in final South Carolina MaxPreps Top 25

Indians win 18th state title with 22-19 upset of five-time defending champion Dutch Fork.

The high school football season in South Carolina came to a close over the weekend. Gaffney was among the victors with a 22-19 win over five-time defending state champs Dutch Fork. That victory helped propel the the Indians to the No. 1 ranking in the final South Carolina MaxPreps Top 25.

Gaffney won its 18th state title while also taking down the Silver Foxes, who hadn't lost since September 2017 and had won the previous five AAAAA titles.

Grayson Loftis led the Indians with two touchdown passes, while linebacker Landon Bullock added two interceptions. Gaffney got a 40-yard touchdown catch from Suga Jefferies with 3:30 left in the game for the final margin. Jefferies had seven catches for 153 yards and the two TDs.
