Basketball Recap: Union County Patriots vs. Franklin County Wildcats
If Union County was feeling good fresh off their 52-19 takedown of Hamilton Heights on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Union County Patriots fell 52-41 to the Franklin County Wildcats on Friday. The Patriots were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Wildcats earlier this season, when they won 50-41.
Franklin County got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ruby Singer out in front who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten boards. The dominant performance also gave Singer a new career-high in blocks (three). Another player making a difference was Tiffany Billman, who went 6 of 12 en route to 13 points.
Union County's defeat dropped their record down to 9-4. As for Franklin County, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-7.
Union County will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Eastern Hancock at 7:30 p.m. on January 11th. Eastern Hancock knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five matchups -- so hopefully Union County likes a good challenge. As for Franklin County, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 53-46 defeat against New Palestine on the 2nd.
