Baseball Recap: Howell North Takes a Loss

Howell North had lost four straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 12-15 to make it five. They came up short against the Lindbergh Flyers, falling 17-8. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Knights of the 2-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2023.

As for Lindbergh, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 27-11-1 record this season. Considering they have won 14 contests by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

For Lindbergh's part, Adler Crask made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Crask has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Lindbergh let Luke Seiler and Austin Jones run wild. Seiler went 1-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Jones went 2-for-4 with four RBI and one run. That's the most hits Jones has posted over his last eight matchups. Lane Elder also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Howell North does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Lindbergh, they will host Fort Zumwalt East at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. The Lions will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something the Flyers surely won't give up without a fight.
