Softball Game Preview: Auburn Mountainview Lions vs. Kent-Meridian Royals

Auburn Mountainview is a perfect 5-0 against Kent-Meridian since March of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Lions will head out on the road to face off against the Royals at 4:00 p.m. Auburn Mountainview is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 13 runs per game this season.

On Tuesday, Auburn Mountainview got the win against White River by a conclusive 12-5. The win continues a trend for the Lions in their matchups with the Hornets: they've now won three in a row.

Mia Heigh was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and five RBI. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Melanie Duran was another key player, going 4-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

Auburn Mountainview always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .523. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Meanwhile, Kent-Meridian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They came up short against Decatur, falling 21-1. That's two games in a row now that the Royals have lost by exactly 20 runs.

Auburn Mountainview's victory bumped their record up to 10-3. As for Kent-Meridian, their loss dropped their record down to 1-10.

Auburn Mountainview took their win against Kent-Meridian in their previous meeting back in March by a conclusive 22-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lions since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
