Baseball Game Preview: Bayport-Blue Point Phantoms vs. Center Moriches Red Devils

For the second straight game, Bayport-Blue Point will face off against Center Moriches. The Phantoms will challenge the Red Devils at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Bayport-Blue Point has won 15 straight at home dating back to last season, while Center Moriches won 12 straight on the road also dating back to last season), something that'll have to change.

Bayport-Blue Point barely beat Center Moriches the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Phantoms' pitcher stepped up to hand the Red Devils a 10-0 shutout on Tuesday. The Phantoms might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matchups by eight runs or more this season.

Cooper Fuller was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over seven innings pitched. Fuller was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs and two RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since April 4th.

In other batting news, Sam DeVore was excellent, going 3-for-5 with two runs and two RBI. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Brendan Mattimore was another key player, going 1-for-4 with three RBI.

Center Moriches moved to 12-3 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak. As for Bayport-Blue Point, their win bumped their record up to 15-0.
