Lake Wales has gone 9-1 against Lake Region recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Lake Wales Highlanders will venture away from home to square off against the Lake Region Thunder at 7:00 p.m. Lake Wales hasn't scored more than a single run for three games straight, a trend the team is eager to reverse.

On Thursday, Lake Wales didn't have quite enough to beat Lakeland and fell 2-1.

Max Seidl was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits.

At the plate, Lake Wales saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carter Franks, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, Lake Region can bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They put the hurt on Auburndale with a sharp 10-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Thunder, who have now won three games by ten runs or more so far this season.

The result came thanks to Kaeden Geraci's shutout, as he gave up just a hit.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ayden Wheelis, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and one double. What's more, he posted three hits, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Dan Colon, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances.

Lake Region was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Auburndale only posted a batting average of .118.

Lake Wales' loss dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Lake Region, their victory bumped their record up to 3-4.

Lake Wales took their win against Lake Region in their previous meeting back in March of 2023 by a conclusive 6-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lake Wales since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
