Basketball Recap: Teague Extends Winning Streak to Four

Teague lost to Mexia back in January, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Monday. The Teague Lions walked away with a 48-38 win over the Mexia Black Cats. The victory was familiar territory for the Lions who have now won four games in a row.

Teague was led to victory by A'Shaiya Jones and Bethanah Owens. Jones went 9 for 17 en route to 23 points and six boards, while Owens dropped a double-double on 17 points and 19 rebounds. Those 23 points gave Jones a new career-high.

Teague smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in ten consecutive contests.

The win got Teague back to even at 12-12. As for Mexia, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-8.

Teague has already played their next matchup, a 30-27 victory against Elkhart on the 4th. Mexia has also already played their next game (against Buffalo), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
