Softball Recap: West Carroll Thunder vs. East Dubuque Warriors
West Carroll had lost nine straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 2-22 to make it ten. They lost 10-0 to the East Dubuque Warriors. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Thunder of the 12-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2025.
As for East Dubuque, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-6 record this season. With that victory, they brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.
For East Dubuque's part, Curin Oberman was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 15 over six innings pitched. Oberman has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Sawyer Weber was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two triples, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Victoria Oberbroeckling was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and two doubles.
While West Carroll had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
