Baseball Game Preview: Larkin Royals vs. Rolling Meadows Mustangs

The Larkin Royals will challenge the Rolling Meadows Mustangs at 7:45 p.m. on Thursday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Larkin is leaving town to face Rolling Meadows after disappointing their home crowd in their season opener. Larkin came up short against DeKalb on Tuesday, falling 9-1. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it nine in a row.

Meanwhile, Rolling Meadows had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-0 win over Addison Trail on Tuesday. The Mustangs haven't had any issues with the Blazers recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Aiden Gallucci looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

At the plate, Luke Schneider was excellent, going 1-for-2 with four stolen bases and one double. Tony Romanacce was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Larkin skirted past Rolling Meadows 12-10 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Larkin since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
