Football Game Preview: Ellwood City Wolverine vs. Union Area Scotties + How To Watch

The Ellwood City Wolverine will head out to face off against the Union Area Scotties at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Union Area took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Ellwood City, who comes in off a win.

Ellwood City will bounce into Friday's game after beating Riverside, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Wolverine breezed past the Panthers to the tune of 48-14 on Friday. That 34 point margin sets a new team best for the Wolverine this season.

Tyler Smiley was nothing short of spectacular: he threw for 297 yards and five TDs while picking up 13.5 yards per attempt, and also rushed for 45 yards. Those 297 passing yards gave him a new career-high. Ellwood City also got a significant boost from Richard Cureton, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 86 yards.

Ellwood City didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Tyler Amicone and Dom Dinucci.

Meanwhile, Union Area was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 20-14 heartbreaker at the hands of Freedom Area. That's two games in a row now that the Scotties have lost by exactly six points.

Ellwood City will have to contain Gianni Million as he made an impact in Union Area's last game. He rushed for 121 yards and one touchdown.

The victory got Ellwood City back to even at 4-4. As for Union Area, their loss dropped their record down to 0-7.

Everything came up roses for Ellwood City against Union Area in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 33-6 win. In that contest, the Wolverine amassed a halftime lead of 20-0, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
