Baseball Recap: Miles Bulldogs vs. Winters Blizzards
Miles pushed their score all the way to 11 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of the Winters Blizzards by a score of 12-11. Miles was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Winters apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2023.
ETHAN JAMES was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. JAMES was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-5.
In other batting news, BRYLEE HOLIK led a balanced group of hitters, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, a triple, and a double. KEELER PULLIG was another key contributor, scoring a run while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances.
Even though they lost, Miles hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Winters struck out 13 times.
On Winters' side, Christopher Martinez was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Martinez is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's stolen at least one every time he's taken the field this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Moises Gomez, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.
This is the second loss in a row for Miles and nudges their season record down to 6-4-1. As for Winters, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-7.
While Miles had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
