Basketball Game Preview: Hilmar Yellowjackets vs. Ripon Christian Knights

Hilmar is 0-10 against Ripon Christian since January of 2019 but things could change on Wednesday. The Hilmar Yellowjackets will head out on the road to take on the Ripon Christian Knights at 7:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Hilmar is headed into Wednesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Friday. They took a hard 77-62 fall against Johansen. While losing is never fun, the Yellowjackets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1035th, while the Vikings are ranked 343rd).

Meanwhile, Ripon Christian had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 37.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Panthers 77-46. The Knights have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 25 points or more this season.

Ripon Christian pushed their record up to 10-4 with the win, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.1 points per game. As for Hilmar, their loss dropped their record down to 4-10.

Hilmar might still be hurting after the 62-37 defeat they got from Ripon Christian in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Can Hilmar avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
