Recap: Axtell Wildcats vs. Silver Lake Mustangs
The Axtell Wildcats had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 62-37 margin over Silver Lake. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Axtell also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2022.
Among those leading the charge was Carson Lindau, who scored 20 points. The contest was Lindau's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Morgan, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Several Mustangs players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Landon Duester, who scored nine points along with five rebounds. Tayten Menke was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Axtell's win bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Silver Lake, their loss dropped their record down to 2-1.
Axtell will head out on the road to face off against Overton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nebraska (Overton is ranked 67th, while Axtell is ranked 73rd). As for Silver Lake, they will be playing at home against Elba at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
