The Hornell Red Raiders will face off against the Livonia Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
Hornell is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 18 runs on Tuesday, they were much more limited against Haverling on Wednesday. They lost 10-1 to the Rams.
Izabella Gardner was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with four stolen bases.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Livonia). They blew past Honeoye 19-1 on Tuesday. With that win, Livonia brought their scoring average up to 7.3 runs per game.
Ava Cook made a big impact no matter where she played. She pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. Cook was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on McKenna Collins, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Alex McKeel was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Livonia always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
With the victory, Livonia broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-4. As for Hornell, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-3.
Hornell beat Livonia 9-5 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Do the Red Raiders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bulldogs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
