Softball Recap: Bishop Union's Win Ends Three-Game Losing Streak on the Road

Bishop Union had lost three games on the road, but after bumping their record up to 9-7 on Tuesday that streak is in the rearview. They came out on top against the Desert Scorpions by a score of 4-1. This was a revenge game for the Broncos: when they faced off against the Scorpions back in April, they had to take a 8-7 defeat.

Sienna Fuller spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up nine Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Cambrie Lanphear, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2024.

As for Desert, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-8. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, they couldn't push the score so high this time.

On Desert's side, they also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Alayna Phillips gave up just two earned (and two unearned) runs on four hits and racked up six Ks. Phillips has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Desert saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hayden Escobar, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Bishop Union wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 7-5 victory against California City on the 9th. As for Desert, they will head out on the road to challenge Rosamond at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Scorpions' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Roadrunners have averaged an impressive 9.3 runs per game this season.
