Randallstown has won four straight games at home, while Western Tech & Environmental Science has won four straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Monday. The Rams will welcome the Wolverines at 4:00 p.m. The last four games Randallstown has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
On Friday, Randallstown narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Poly 5-3.
Chris Ross spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits and racked up eight Ks.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Chris Mcleod, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with four stolen bases and three runs. Another player making a difference was Terrence Venable, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.
Meanwhile, Western Tech & Environmental Science hadn't done well against Lansdowne recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Wolverines never let the Vikings get on the board and left with a 9-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Wolverines, who have now won seven games by seven runs or more so far this season.
Harlan Sammons was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Western Tech & Environmental Science is 4-2 when he allows at most one walk, but 4-5 otherwise. Sammons was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.
In other batting news, Connor Brown was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Wyatt Lemmerman, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Western Tech & Environmental Science always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .714. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lansdowne only posted an OBP of .286.
Randallstown is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-5-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games. As for Western Tech & Environmental Science, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-7.
Monday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Randallstown has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .447. However, it's not like Western Tech & Environmental Science struggles in that department as they've averaged .510. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
