Basketball Recap: Bluefield Takes a Loss

Bluefield was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss dating back to last season. They fell 63-55 to the James Monroe Mavericks. While losing is never fun, the Beavers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' West Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 90th, while the Mavericks are ranked 23rd).

James Monroe was led to victory by Ryan Mann and Kadyn Hines. Mann dropped a double-double on 20 points and 12 rebounds, while Hines dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 boards. Mann's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Jayden Miller was another key player, putting up ten points.

Bluefield's defeat dropped their record down to 0-8. As for James Monroe, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 8-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bluefield will square off against Princeton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for James Monroe, they will take on WestSide at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
