The Scotland County Tigers will challenge the Schuyler County Rams at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Scotland County is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season.
Scotland County proved they can win big on Monday (they won by ten) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Marceline 8-7.
Vincent Dale was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one double. Another player making a difference was Marcus Smith, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
Scotland County lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last matchup, Schuyler County made sure to put some runs up on the board against Paris on Thursday. The Rams were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Coyotes. The result was nothing new for the Rams, who have now won six contests by six runs or more so far this season.
The team relied heavily on Gage Brownell, who fired off two home runs and seven RBI while going 3-for-4. Those two home runs gave him a new career-high. Elliot Sevits was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Scotland County has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Schuyler County, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-7.
Both Scotland County and Schuyler County just can't seem to miss. The Tigers have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.8 hits per game. However, it's not like Schuyler County struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.9 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
