Football Game Preview: Peachtree Academy Panthers vs. Praise Academy Lions

The Peachtree Academy Panthers will face off against the Praise Academy Lions on Friday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Peachtree Academy played against Peoples Baptist Academy on Friday and won via forfeit.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Praise Academy and Holy Ground Baptist Academy, and Praise Academy kept the tradition alive. The Lions put the hurt on the Stallions with a sharp 32-8 win on Friday.

A big part of Praise Academy's victory came down to the chemistry between Hunter Ivey and his top target Brandon Ivey. Hunter threw for 302 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 13.7 yards per attempt while Brandon picked up 248 receiving yards and three scores. Brandon really caught the secondary sleeping when he pulled down a catch that went for 75 yards.

Praise Academy didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Ivey and Brandon. Hunter's passing game has become a key predictor of Praise Academy's success: the team is 4-2 when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 0-4 otherwise.

Praise Academy's record is now 4-6. As for Peachtree Academy, they moved to 4-5 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Peachtree Academy didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Praise Academy when the teams last played back in November of 2023, but they still walked away with an 18-14 victory. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Lions' Jacob Keller, who rushed for 102 yards and one TD on only 13 carries, and also threw for 135 yards and one touchdown. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be easier for the Panthers to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
