Baseball Recap: Waverly Now 15-3 over Last 18 Games

While Waverly's victory against Standing Bear wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Vikings sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over the Grizzlies on Thursday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 13-0 back in April.

Drew Koch was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high.

Waverly has been performing well recently as they've won 15 of their last 18 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Standing Bear, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-18.

As of now, neither Waverly nor the Grizzlies have any future games scheduled.
