Recap: Corvian Community Cardinals vs. Pine Lake Prep Pride
There's no place like home for The Corvian Community Cardinals, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road two weeks ago. In a tight match that could have gone either way, they made off with a 24-23 victory over Pine Lake Prep.
Among those leading the charge was AJ Jackson Jr., who rushed for 96 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 97 yards and a touchdown while completing 71.4% of his passes.
When it comes to explaining why Pine Lake Prep lost on Friday, one person who can't be blamed is Gabe Bolivar. Despite the final result, he rushed for 231 yards and three touchdowns. Bolivar is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last five games he's played.
Even if they lost, Pine Lake Prep's defense still kept up the pressure with five sacks. Leading the way was Ryan Connotillo and his three sacks.
Corvian Community now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Pine Lake Prep, their loss dropped their record down to 7-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Corvian Community will take on Mountain Island Charter at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in North Carolina (Mountain Island Charter is ranked 250th, while Corvian Community is ranked 242nd). As for Pine Lake Prep, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Community School of Davidson at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Community School of Davidson is coming into the contest hot, having won their last five games.
