Softball Game Preview: Granger Lancers vs. Alta Hawks

The Granger Lancers will take on the Alta Hawks at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Alta took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Granger, who comes in off a win.

Granger will bounce into Monday's game after beating Kearns, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Granger came out on top against Kearns by a score of 10-6 on Thursday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Lancers.

Meanwhile, Alta was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss dating back to last season. They fell 9-5 to West.

Danica Doyle put in work while hitting and pitching. She pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. What's more, she gave up only zero walks, the fewest she's had since back in April of 2024. She was even better at the plate, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4. She also hit a triple, marking her first of the season.

In other batting news, Brielle Watson and Anabel Velador stepped up to the plate in a big way. Watson scored a run and stole three bases while going 3-for-4, while Velador scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. What's more, Velador posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Bailey Thompson, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Even though they lost, Alta was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .483. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Granger's win was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 3-8. As for Alta, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-5.
