Basketball Game Preview: New Paltz Huguenots vs. Spackenkill Spartans

The New Paltz Huguenots will take on the Spackenkill Spartans at 5:45 p.m. on Friday. New Paltz is coming into the game on a six-game losing streak.

Last Tuesday, New Paltz came up short against Rondout Valley and fell 44-33.

Despite the loss, New Paltz had strong showings from Callie Meyer, who posted three points along with 16 rebounds and four steals, and Charletta Goode, who had seven points and five boards. Meyer has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times she's played.

Even though they lost, New Paltz smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Spackenkill was able to grind out a solid victory over Onteora on Thursday, taking the game 42-31. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Spartans.

Spackenkill's win bumped their record up to 7-3. As for New Paltz, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-8.

New Paltz ended up a good deal behind Spackenkill in their previous meeting on January 7th, losing 44-30. Can New Paltz avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
