Preview: Daingerfield Tigers vs. Jefferson Bulldogs
Daingerfield has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against the Jefferson Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Daingerfield will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 1412th, while Jefferson is ranked 457th).
Daingerfield managed to keep up with Rivercrest until halftime on Tuesday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Daingerfield's tough 50-24 defeat to Rivercrest might stick with them for a while.
Jefferson has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 contests by 23 points or more this season. They blew past Elysian Fields 64-37 on the road. With Jefferson ahead 36-12 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
Daingerfield bumped their record down to 1-7 with that loss, which was their sixth straight at home. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 22.3 points per game. As for Jefferson, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 16-6.
Daingerfield was dealt a bruising 68-30 loss at the hands of Jefferson when the teams last played back in November. Can Daingerfield avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
