Valley Center is 1-9 against Ramona since May of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Jaguars will host the Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m.
On Tuesday, Valley Center came up short against Canyon Crest Academy and fell 9-5.
Valley Center saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Winter Molina, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Ramona). Everything went their way against El Cajon Valley on Monday as they made off with a 23-1 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Bulldogs considering their two-run performance the game before.
Taeya Kitchen made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single hit and allowed only one earned run while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. Those 13 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Ramona got a massive performance out of Kayla Gibson, who scored five runs while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. Those five runs gave Gibson a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Evie Brown, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one triple.
Ramona kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 10.2.
Ramona's victory bumped their record up to 6-11-1. As for Valley Center, their loss dropped their record down to 6-13.
Everything went Valley Center's way against Ramona in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, as Valley Center made off with an 8-1 win. Will the Jaguars repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
